Malaga
I have divided the information below into 2 categories. The reason for this is due to the fact that the Malaga is both the name of the province and the name of a city.

Benalmádena is a town and municipality in the province of Malaga, on the Costa del Sol. Benalmádena is located between Torremolinos and Fuengirola and has around 55.000 residents, although this dramatically increasing during the holiday seasons as it is one of the most popular destinations on the Costa del Sol for Northern Europeans.
The Costa del Sol is a region in the province of Malaga in Southern Spain. Costa del Sol translates literally in English to Coast of the Sun, and has earned its name by averaging over 300 days of sun a year. Although originally made up only of a series of small fishing villages, the region has been completely transformed over the last few decades into a world renowned tourist destination.
It includes the city of Malaga, and the wealthy towns of Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Mijas and Marbella, San Pedro de Alcántara, Velez Malaga, Nerja, Torrox, Estepona, San Luis de Sabinillas, the community of Sotogrande, San Roque and La Línea de la Concepción.
The area has seem a variety of cultures establish themselves in the area over the years including the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Vandals, Visigoths and Moors.
In the last 50 years the Costa del Sol has gone through several stages of development. With a large property boom in the last 10 years vast improvements have come to the area, with motorway extensions, ports & marinas, shopping centres, etc… Although the area might have lost its rural charm, it has become a cosmopolitan area that attracts people from all over Spain and the world. The standards of living are also continuously increasing.

Marbella is a city located in the province of Malaga on the Costa del Sol. It is quite a large city, with over 100.000 inhabitants. Marbella is best known as the playground for the rich and famous and has been a favourite destination for many wealthy tourists from Northern Europe.
Like areas such as Fuengirola, there is archaeological evidence that indicates previous Phoenician, Carthaginian and roman settlements. Historically little of significance happened in the area until the 1940s.
Fuengirola is a large town and municipality located at the heart of the Costa del Sol in the province of Malaga. It is a major tourist destination with 8 km of beaches and has a variety of cultural/historical attractions and an average annual temperature of 18°C.
Mijas is a municipality located in the province of Malaga in Andalusia in Southern Spain. The heart of the municipality is Mijas Pueblo (where the town hall is located) and is located 450 metres above the mean sea level. Although a wealthy town, the village has kept its Andalusia character by maintaining itself as a white-washer village. There are building limits and all buildings must be white.
