According to the economic analysts of Andalucía the current economic recession will continue to affect Andalucía until the 4th quarter of this year with the GDP of Andalucía shrinking by 1.3% in 2009. This is in contrast to 2008 when GDP increase by 1.1% in Andalucía.

Spain to attend financial summit

Well Zapatero finally got what he wanted and will be attending the global finance summit being held on the 15th of November. Previously Washington wanted to limit the summit to the G-20, which includes the seven leading industrial powers plus Russia, as well as developing countries such as China, India, Argentina, Mexico and Brazil – but not Spain, the world’s eighth-largest economy. Spanish banks to the rescue?

According to the Herald Tribune, Grupo Santander will be acquiring the remaining stake in Sovereign Bancorp that is does not currently own.

Santander said it would pay $3.81 a share for the 75.65 percent stake in the U.S. bank it does not already hold. This is a total figure of 1.9 billion dollars.
