Well it appears that Ryanair has faith in the travel industries future on the Costa del Sol. The company has begun the winter season with the launch of 4 new routes between Malaga and the UK which are expected to carry an additional 240,000 passengers annually.
The first of the new flights which left Monday is from Malaga to Glasgow Prestwick in Scotland.
The second started on Tuesday with flights between the Costa del Sol and London Stanstead and was followed on Wednesday with flights to Birmingham. The last but not least (i did say 4) will be taking off in a few days on November 6th between Malaga and Edinburgh.
According to Ryanair, the airline has sold 5,000 seats on the Glasgow route, 6,000 for Stansted, 5,500 for Edinburgh and more than 13,000 for Birmingham.
Both the Glasgow and Stansted routes will run three times a week. With Glasgow flights on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday; and Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for the London airport. Both these routes are expected to carry 40,000 passengers each every year.
The Birmingham-Malaga connection will operate every day with a forecast of 100,000 passengers every year.
Finally the Edinburgh flights will operate four times a week with an expected 60,000 passengers every year.
With the addition of these 4 routes Ryanair now flies to a total of 14 destinations from Malaga
